So, its been a month since my last entry and we’ve been a lot of places. But you know the old saying “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all.”
Our trip to Jackson Center went very well, nothing to speak of really. We traded in Deuce for Granny and she made the trip with us. It was great to get back to the trailer, we felt all warm and fuzzy. Especially our fridge and freezer, warm and fuzzy. UGH. You cannot imagine the surprise awaiting us when after several weeks I had left…

we spent the last 4 days in our Excella at Richard Russell State Park on Lake Russell. Its on the SC border. The lake is spectacular. Crystal clear, at full pool and with not a house in site anywhere. We loved our trip there.
The trailer was comfortable and fun as usual.
I did a big uh oh on the way though....as we pulled out down the road, I remembered after a mile or so, that I had NOT unplugged the electrical cord at my home. What a dummie!
We turned around and went back....of course...the ho…

Well, it's been a while. Louisville was our last stop with the airstream. We were so close to Jackson Center, OH-(the factory) we decided to take it there to get some warranty work done. And we have not been the same since. We did have to go back to Atlanta for a week and stayed in a nasty hotel room the first night and then we moved over to a Residence Inn for the rest of the week. We were such a disaster that first night, I didn't think we were going to make it through the week. Anyway, Maya a…

There are a couple of things going on here, let me explain. One is that as soon as I get behind the wheel to help with the driving, we promptly run into construction. Seriously, I don't get a mile down the road and the orange signs start flying up all over the place. Now, maybe I shouldn't be taking this so personally, maybe it's possible 90% of the country is under construction during the summer?
We have been in Louisville for a few days now, and we are getting to know our way around pretty wel…

Definition:
The conscious positioning or arranging of objects.
So, we are near Louisville, Kentucky now, but on our way through Georgia, Tennesse and Kentucky we noticed some rather interesting signage. On the left of the I-24 was a giant sign (you’ll see above), that says “HELL IS REAL” and just across from that sign on the right side of the street was a sign for and Adult Superstore. HMMMM. It seems as though there may be some differences of opinion in the bible belt, and it goes on for miles…

I'm going to keep writing while Maya naps! So, we left Disney on Wednesday and we are now parked in a town north of Atlanta called Braselton. Frank got a mini job to justify our Disney trip and he is working a "Drift" car race. I'll take some video later when the race actually starts. So, we are essentially parked on a race track, Road Atlanta, as a matter of fact, and the past couple of days they have been practicing Formula D cars, I believe. They appear to be much smaller than Formula 1 cars-…

We just spent 5 days at Disneyworld's Fort Wilderness. If you didn't know Disney offered a campground for it's outdoorsy type folks- they do. It's full of the Disney charm, piped in music spread throughout the campground. All the loops have cute little names, there was horseback riding, a campfire sing-a-long and they even have bunnies. It was perfect! Originally our reservations were for Sunday, but we made it down there so quickly we checked in on Friday instead. Turns out they only offer a fe…

Well, I didn't do anything in Charleston that I meant to do. But, we decided to make our trip to Orlando in two days rather than one, which meant we got to stop sooner and stayed at the nicest state park I have ever been to. The trip from Charleston was rather long and meandering, even though it was only about 88 miles. You'll see the pictures above. The campground was along the beach, and nestled in the woods. It's a barrier island, so there is all this amazing driftwood and one of the oldest l…

So here we are in Charleston, South Carolina. Actually, we are in Mt. Pleasant- but it’s very close. We haven’t yet explored the city. We got in late Monday night and Tuesday we worked on the Airstream packing and unpacking, arranging and re-arranging. Then I was doing dishes and I pulled the plug in the sink to release the water and we had a leak. You notice a couple gallons of water very quickly in a space this size.
Charleston is a port city, so there are lots of bridges and it’s on the wate…

So we headed out of St. Louis aiming for Nashville by way of southern Illinois and Kentucky. Which, were actually quite lovely. And it made the trip very easy. We wanted to stop at the "Land Between Lakes" in Kentucky but Maya fell asleep a mile into our detour so rather than waste the time, we hightailed it to Nashville. Instead of spending the night in Nashville, we made it to Edgar Evins State Park about 60 miles from the city. It was well worth the trip back to the campsite. The parking pads…

Safari so good! We made it to Kansas City with no problem. We spent the night with Frank's childhood friend and his family. They were gracious enough to let us plug into their home and do some laundry and even use the dishwasher. So far, we aren't really roughing it. Maya had a fantastic day with their three kids and we really enjoyed spending time with them. We had Kansis City Bar-B- Que for lunch and then we hit the road. We spent the night in St. Charles at an RV park just outside of St. Loui…

Well Dear Friends and Family.
It's been a hell of a week. We finally got our new home on Monday and furiously began packing and moving the rest of our belongings to my mom's basement. We are still shocked at the amount of storage space in the Airstream, we already know we overpacked. Oh well. Better safe than sorry.
As we speak we are headed East on the 70 towards Kansas City. In fact I have better internet service out here than at home.
Go figure. Frank is at the wheel and Maya is happily watch…

Thought we'd track our travels here to share w/ all...
Maybe we'll begin commenting on each of the locations if folks would find it helpful!
08.02.09 Lake Whitney, TX
This was our maiden voyage in our new Airstream...
We chose to get immediately underway on our shakeout cruise and learn from the pros at the campground owned by our A/S dealer. A very nice group of folks who were very welcoming, and helpful, to a couple new to A/S and trailer life.

The world of blogging just keeps growing. I have to thank Rob Baker, whom I have never met, for getting me interested in blogging. I always read with interest his blog of his restoration adventures and was encouraged by his postings to document my own progress (or lack thereof).
I hope that I can add to the community by word, works, and deeds, in helping others to restore their silver beauties. Enjoy....

Charleston, SC is our first scheduled stop. Our plan is to head through Kansas City, then on to Nashville and then to Charleston. We'll spend a few days there and head down to Disneyworld for Maya's birthday and to visit some Stanley's! In the meantime we've got a house to pack up and figure out this whole new Airstream life!

This is a nice vintage Airstream trailer, but aren't they all?

I sold this Tradewind on eBay last year, in favor of keeping my smaller '66 Globetrotter which is more suited to my needs.
