Andrea Hamilton A compendium of Airstream (and other) shiny silver things

One could spend an entire evening enjoying the blog posts here. I just did! Please visit my blog at http://andreahamilton.typepad.com/andrea_hamiltons_web_log/, where I post about all manner of Airstream related items, vintage trailer stories and photos, and other shiny silver things. I'm crazy about my '64 Caravel, that I named Stella, after Wally Byam's wife, and while my blog isn't focused on restoration and it isn't a… Continue

Richard Suter Perfect tow vehicle?

We are in the process of acquiring a 28' International, that has a gross weight of 7,600 Lbs. We are going to need to buy a new tow vehicle and would like to hear opinions on what you recommend as the "best" vehicle to buy. We would also like to know your opinions on what NOT to buy. We probably want an SUV, not a pick up truck. Thanks, Rich and Christina Continue

Lani Pokrana No We Are Not Retired: The Technology that Allows us to be Full-Timers

We just passed our four month mark of full-timing in our 2008 23' International CCD. When my husband came up with this whole plan in January, I thought he was crazy. I asked (often), "You want to sell everything? Are you insane?". Then, one day, sitting in my cubicle, I thought, "Hmmm...actually, he might be on… Continue

KRISTA STANLEY Joshua Tree, Banning

Alright, we are officially Airstreaming. We left Chandler, spent the night in Maricopa with our friends, and then headed off the next day to Joshua Tree. Frank and I aren't totally in sync yet. It usually takes a couple of set-ups and tear-downs till we get it figured out. I've apparently forgotten the hand signals when I'm backing up. Oh well. There was one I recognized. The international symbol, for "you're number one"- yeah that one. We came off the I-10 and stopped at Cottonwood campg… Continue

Paul Hecht TO THE BIG APPLE IN A BIG LEMON

RMF Any advice? Please?

Hi- I am new to the Airstream way of life well, actually I haven't even started it yet! This is why I'm posting. I am looking to buy an Airstream to live in while I am in school. (2-3 years) I am not really sure what I need to be looking for exactly. I'm pretty sure I would like a 22 or 26 foot and I have found a couple that have great prices but are in different states. It would be nice to know some questions I can ask the owners over the phone so I know if it is worth the drive to see and what… Continue

Laurel Paulson-Pierce train video

I went on an awesome VIA-RAIL train trip thru the Canadian Rockies with dozens of folks and lots of cowboy poets and musicians. I was playing hookie (not hockey) from a college course in video producton at the time and put together a 2 min. film of one of my favorite musicians with great scenery. I will try to submit this footage if I can. For more info see www.flyingunderradar.com Charlie Hunter's site. He conducts several trips each year including steam trains in Colorado and New Mexico and a… Continue
